Overview

About the Unitree B2

The B2 is the largest quadruped in Unitree's range. It weighs about 60 kg with its battery and can carry more than 40 kg while walking or over 120 kg standing. Unloaded it walks for over 5 hours and more than 20 km. Its joints produce about 360 N·m of torque, enough to climb 40 cm steps and slopes over 45°. It carries a 3D LiDAR, two depth cameras and two optical cameras, with Intel i5 and i7 computers on board. The battery is a quick-change unit, and automatic charging is an option. For Irish utilities, industrial sites and emergency services, the B2 is built for heavy, outdoor and all-weather work.

In practice

Where it earns its keep

1

Utility inspection

The B2 can carry heavy sensor payloads on long patrols around substations, pipelines or plants. IP67 sealing lets it keep working in rain and dust.

2

Hazardous areas

It can enter places that are unsafe for staff and send back camera and LiDAR data. It handles rubble, steps and steep ground.

3

Research platform

Multiple Ethernet and USB ports and extra computer bays suit teams building custom autonomy and sensing systems.
