Overview

About the Booster K1 range

The K1 is Booster Robotics' entry humanoid. It walks, turns, kicks and gets back up, and it is light enough for one person to carry in its transport case. Every edition has 22 joints, a binocular camera, a microphone array, a speaker and a 9-axis motion sensor. Developers can reach both the individual joints and higher-level movement commands, and the robot works with ROS2 and simulation tools such as Isaac Sim. The three editions step up in computing power from 48 to 117 to 200 TOPS. The EDU and Professional editions also carry a larger battery that gives over an hour of walking. For Irish schools, colleges and event organisers, the K1 is a manageable way to put a real walking humanoid in front of an audience or a class.

In practice

Where it earns its keep

1

Classroom robotics

Students can program walking, balance and gestures on a real humanoid. The small size makes it easier to manage in a classroom than a full-size robot.

2

Robot football

Booster has shown teams of K1 robots playing autonomous five-a-side matches. Clubs and colleges can use it to learn perception and team strategy.

3

Event attraction

A walking, waving humanoid draws a crowd at open days, conferences and festivals. The remote control lets a handler run a show without writing code.
